Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship

Friday, January 19th, 2018

A Gilman Scholarship enables American students to gain proficiency in diverse languages and cultures, skills that are critically important to their academic and career development.

The Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship Program is a program of the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs.

To be eligible for a Gilman Scholarship, an applicant must:

  • Be a citizen of the United States;
  • Be an undergraduate student in good standing at an accredited institution of higher education in the United States (including both two-year and four-year institutions);
  • Be receiving a Federal Pell Grant or provide proof that he/she will be receiving a Pell Grant during the term of his/her study abroad program or internship;
  • Be in the process of applying to, or accepted for, a study abroad or internship program of at least two weeks for community college students and three weeks for students from four-year institutions, in a single country and eligible for credit from the student’s home institution. Proof of program acceptance is required prior to award disbursement;
  •  Students are eligible to apply for credit-bearing study abroad programs in a country with an overall Travel Advisory Level 1 or 2, according to the U.S. Department of State’s Travel Advisory System. Certain areas within these countries may be designated within the Travel Advisory as either “Do not travel to” (Level 4) or “Reconsider travel to” (Level 3) locations, as such; students will not be allowed to travel to these areas.

Students are not eligible to apply for programs in a country with an overall Level 3 or 4 Travel Advisory.

The Gilman Program, under the direction of the U.S. Department of State, aims to work with students to make scholarship experiences a success. Should a Travel Advisory change to a Level 3 or 4 after the student has been granted the award, the program will coordinate with participants to select a different destination study site that falls within the guidelines provided by the U.S. State Department Travel Advisory system.

APPLICATION COMPONENTS:

  • Online application which includes uploading official transcripts.
  • Online certifications from the applicant’s study abroad and financial aid advisor.

Both components must be completed by the deadlines in order for your application to be accepted. Incomplete or late applications will not be considered and extensions cannot be granted.

MageSolar Scholarships

Tuesday, January 9th, 2018

Last year, we were very proud to be able to help out three talented students, providing them with the financial backing that they needed to continue their studies and to take their career further. This year, we are continuing that tradition with three more scholarships:

  • A first-place price of $1,500.
  • Second place, worth $1,000
  • Third place, for $500

At Magesolar, we believe in education and in supporting the next generation of thinkers, engineers and leaders. They are the ones who will inherit our planet and all of its problems, and they are the ones who will stand the best chance of reversing the damage that we have done.

That’s why we established our annual scholarship to help shape that brighter, cleaner future. And after the fantastic reception of last year’s award, we really believe that our small contribution can make a difference.

If you have an interest in pursuing a career in solar, then you are entitled to take part and you could be the recipient of one of our cash prizes.

The scholarship is open to students of the following subjects:

  • Biology
  • Medicine
  • Law
  • Computer Science
  • Engineering
  • Sports
  • Architecture

To be considered for a scholarship, we want to learn what makes you tick. We’re looking for knowledgeable, talented and conscientious students that will be able to make a real difference in the world.

To get involved, we want you to write one of the essays demonstrating your understanding and passion for solar energy, as it applies to your field.

There is no word limit but don’t assume that those that write more will be in with a higher chance of winning! What we’re looking for here is passion, talent and an understanding of the subject and its complexities.

We want to see your potential to contribute to this growing industry and to play a part in ending our reliance on fossil fuels and non-renewable energy sources. So, keep that in mind as you write and we wish you the very best of luck!

Please send all entries to scholarship@magesolar.com, making sure to include your name, your age, your educational institute, your course and your nationality. The deadline is 29.06.2018 and after that, no further entries will be accepted. You’ll be notified shortly after if you are successful.

If you would like to learn more about Magesolar and how we are doing our part, then head over to Magesolar.com and take a look around. Here, you’ll also find a selection of great articles on the subject of solar power, which might help provide a little inspiration!
