Scholarship Program. All essays become the property of the company. All scholarship is a one-time award of $1,000. This award is non-renewable; however, recipients may apply for consideration in subsequent years if they continue to meet eligibility requirements. The scholarship award is sent directly to the recipient’s academic institution.
Level: High school students entering the first year of college or current undergraduate or graduate student.
Occurs: Annually
Application Deadline: December 15, 2017
Date Awarded: December 31, 2017
Applicants: Must be legal residents. Must be currently enrolled full-time at an
accredited university in the USA or Canada.

Scholarship Application Requirements:
Essay – A core value at Thomas R. Smith is Innovative quality, which sometimes comes from places that are unexpected.
A short introduction to your life story 300 -500 words and an essay between 750 and 1,000 words. Share with our company a subject below in bullets related to the following, “How cutting and trimming trees improves property curb appeal” or you can select this topic “How keeping trees cut back keeps your family safer”
We recommend you read our Tree Care but not required.
Selection Criteria for Awards:
- Must have a 2.5 cumulative GPA or higher
- Originality and creativity of essay submission
- Legal resident of Canada or USA
- Be enrolled currently
- Your life story
- Tree Care Essay
- Has met all above-listed criteria
