Internship Process (to receive course credit)

Internship Process for Communication and Film Majors

Students are encouraged to complete at least one internship in their major
field before graduation. If you are seeking an internship opportunity, you
may approach the search in three ways: you may contact Ana Eliason in the
internship office in Christensen to look at the internship postings; you may
review the postings on our Communication Studies blog or you may contact
organizations directly.

There are three types of internships:

COM or FLM 399 is a one- credit internship that requires a minimum of 140

hours, in addition to an electronic portfolio which includes the following:

1. Learning Agreement completed with Ana Eliason

2. Registration form signed by Eliason and Deb Redmond

3. Electronic weekly journal entries submitted to the department internship coordinator, Deb Redmond (Redmond@augsburg.edu)

4. 1-2 pg description of the organization and its functions

5. List of your responsibilities and the means by which you are evaluated by your work supervisor

6. Samples of work and description of your role in producing them

7. Closing summary paper that reflects upon what you learned from this experience

8. Evaluations (provided by internship office) for yourself and your supervisor to complete

9. Any letters of recommendation you may receive by your site supervisor

COM 397 (.5cr) Internship off-campus
