Other Work Experience

In addition to my Bonner Leader internship, I am a server at Runyon’s, a bar and restaurant in downtown Minneapolis.  This is the funnest job I have had and I enjoy it so much.  I work with a great group of people and in a restaurant that has a colorful variety of clientele.  I like how fast paced it is and love interacting with customers.  My family has been dining there ever since I can remember and now working there has made me appreciate it even more.

My first year in the Bonner Leaders Program, I worked at Urban Ventures Learning Lab as a teaching assistant.  This was the most rewarding job I’ve had.  Working with underserved populations of children and being their friend and someone they looked up to was great.  They were always so excited to see me and I in turn learned a lot from them.  It was such a wonderful experience and I’m grateful to the Bonner program for this opportunity.

I worked as a Home Essentials Retail Expert at Best Buy for a little over two years.  This Edina location was the fifth Best Buy to be built and the oldest and smallest that still stood. So the Home Essentials department consisted of television and home theater, appliances, GPS and car technologies, video games, movies and music, and musical instruments.  I am a quick learner when it comes to technology so this job was a great fit for me.  It was a great way for me to dig deeper into learning the technology behind the functionality of these products.  I liked learning this and it has definitely helped me in my own life with setting up technology and knowing my way around the technical aspects of things like my phone, computer, and TV.  I learned a lot from working in retail and think everyone should try it at some point in their lives.
