Internship in China (Post-Grad)

The United International College (UIC) is an Augsburg partner college in Zhuhai, China.

Graduates of Augsburg from any discipline are eligible to apply for an academic year internship at UIC.  The teaching assistantship requires a person who is flexible, adaptable and willing to take initiative.
Responsibilities include assisting a professor or instructor with a class, tutoring, reviewing and grading papers and leading co-curricular club activities. The internship includes an opportunity to learn Mandarin or Cantonese and live in an international setting. Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 and excellent written and spoken English.

Summer PAID Marketing Internship

Haworth Marketing + Media is beginning outreach to college students as we look towards Summer 2013. Our agency works on a complete range of media related aspects including planning, buying and strategizing. Our clients include Target, Ben & Jerry’s, Beats by Dre, Caribou, The U, and many more.

 

I am writing you today to let you know about an opportunity for your students to visit our agency on March 1st from 3-5pm. We will be hosting a college day where they will be able to tour the office, learn about what we do, and get more information about the media industry.

 

Although we don’t have 2013 opportunities firmed up, we typically have 2-5 paid intern positions available each summer.

Development Internships at Graywolf Press

 

Development interns will work closely with the Development Associate and the Managing and Development Director in the ongoing work of a small development office. While assisting with a wide range of fundraising projects and working with a broad group of people, interns will gain substantial hands-on experience and specific training in all aspects of nonprofit development, while also gaining a good understanding of nonprofit literary publishing.

 

Interns’ responsibilities will include:
• A commitment to work twenty hours per week for four months.
• Assisting in the maintenance of the organization’s donor database by generating reports, updating constituent records, troubleshooting, etc.

• Assisting with the design, copy writing, and production of donor and member materials and ongoing correspondence.
• Conducting prospect research and analysis to support solicitation strategies.
• Providing logistic and clerical support for regular board and national council member meetings. Duties include, but not limited to: assembling materials and follow-up information; coordinating event logistics; assisting with data entry, mailings, and other correspondence.
• Providing logistic and clerical support for a calendar of small donor events hosted in the Twin Cities and across the country prior, during (when local) and after events. Duties include, but not limited to: designing event invitations; preparing mailings; working with outside vendors; helping to coordinate hospitality and presentation of events.

• Providing substantial research and recommendations regarding key projects.

• Development administrative work (copying, filing, and other support tasks).

• Assisting the development staff as needed.
Qualified candidates will be/have:
• Self-motivated, detail-oriented individuals with excellent written, verbal and organizational skills.
• The ability to coordinate and complete special projects and routine tasks efficiently.
• Excellent computer skills with experience in database management (knowledge of DonorPro preferred), Microsoft office, and mail merges.

• The ability to work independently and with others – especially volunteers, donors, and vendors.
• Dependability, flexibility, and ability to maintain confidentiality.
• The ability to work well under pressure and with deadlines.
• A passion for publishing and a knowledge of contemporary literature and Graywolf titles (preferred).

 

Graywolf Press offers ongoing unpaid internships designed to expose qualified applicants to editorial, marketing, and development work, and other aspects of the publishing industry. Graywolf is an independent, nonprofit literary press dedicated to the creation and promotion of thoughtful and imaginative contemporary literature essential to a vital and diverse culture.

 

We offer six internships per session: two marketing internships, two development internships, and two editorial internships. The internships are intended for those who are serious about pursuing these particular fields, and the acceptance process will be highly selective. Please apply for only one internship at a time, and indicate in your cover letter whether or not you might be available for a different department. Benefits of an internship at Graywolf include a great hands-on learning experience at a well-established nonprofit arts organization, a flexible schedule, and free books. College credit is also available.

Interested applicants must be in the third or fourth year of an undergraduate degree. Higher level applicants are welcome. The development internship requires a commitment of twenty hours per week for a period of four months. Internships must be scheduled during Graywolf’s operating hours (9 AM through 5 PM, Monday through Friday). We structure our internships around the academic calendar, with three sessions per year: Winter/Spring, Summer, and Fall.

Telecommute Volunteer opportunity–The Borgen Project

REGIONAL DIRECTOR

 

Position: Regional Director
Location: Telecommute
Status: Volunteer
Duration: Minimum of 6 months
Hours: 4-6 hours per week
Function: Advocate for the world’s poor.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Attend one (30-60 minute) conference call every week with the President of The Borgen Project and Regional Directors from across the United States (5PM PDT, 6PM MDT, 7PM CDT, 8PM EDT).
  • Meet with local congressional leaders and lobby for legislation that improves living conditions for those living on less than $1 per day.
  • Mobilize people in your community to contact their congressional leaders.
  • Assist with fundraising efforts.
  • Build a network of people engaged in the cause.
  • Develop and implement strategies for furthering the cause.

DETAILS: Regional Directors operate independently from home and maintain contact with The Borgen Project’s Seattle office. Regional Directors sign a 6-month contract. The position is volunteer based and is roughly 4-6 hours per week. Directors attend a conference call every Monday evening.

Student Campaign of the Year (win money!)

The Caples Student Campaign of the Year requires students to design a marketing campaign. This year the challenge is to help Campus Mart (a fictitious retailer) drive awareness of its Preferred Member Program (PMP) among students and parents, while ensuring brand perception is elevated based on its broad array of products and focus on customer service. This assignment will include a written plan and creative elements.
